I met Mark at a wedding we were both working awhile back. When I walked in to the reception completely frazzled from carrying in a crap ton of gear and already being on my feet for countless hours his friendly smile was a welcome sight! A wedding photographer loves working with a DJ who understands timelines and knows how to keep things running smoothly so the night flows well and the photographer can stick with their timeline. Plus, it’s always easy to tell if the DJ has the energy to keep the guests engaged and having fun.

I was honored when Mark asked me to do photos for his upcoming website launch! We met up at U.S. Bank Stadium on a sunny Friday morning to get some photos for his website & marketing materials. It turns out, the Bank has a significant meaning to Mark, as he was recently DJ’ing a wedding there and he got locked in at the end of the night. In true extrovert DJ fashion, Mark Facebook lived his adventure of being locked in US Bank stadium in the wee hours of the morning and it went viral.

So, it was very fitting we used the plaza for the setting of his headshots! Here are a few of my favorites.  If you are in need of a DJ for an wedding or event I highly recommend him!

I’m happy to share these fun engagement photos from a recent destination session! Kayla is currently living in Philadelphia, Steve is currently in Chicago, and I am in Minneapolis — so that made the logistics of this engagement session a bit tricky! But the stars aligned and we found a date that worked for all of us to meet up in Madison, WI, which is where the couple originally met and just happens to be near my home town. So I got to have a quick visit with my family (my dad even came along to this engagement session!) and we got lucky to have a near 70 degree day in November do do these photos! Well, I should say it was near 70 when we started but by the end it had dropped 30 degrees and the wind was fierce. We still managed to get some nice variety around State Street, the Capitol, and near the Monona Terrace. I look forward to their wedding in Minneapolis next September! Enjoy!

It’s hard to believe that summer is winding down and back to school photos are popping up all over Facebook! I’m starting to prep for the busy fall season ahead but wanted to share some of my fabulous summer sessions on the blog before I’m buried in fall color shoots & Holiday card orders!  I’ve had a wonderful group of high school senior clients this summer and look forward to more this fall!

Ms. Julianna was one of my senior girls from Mahtomedi High School, and she was a natural in front of the camera. We had fun incorporating different looks into her session, especially her hockey jersey! She’s the captain of the Mahtomedi hockey team so of course we had to feature that accomplishment in her photos! Good luck in your senior year, Julianna!Katie_Thering_Photography21Katie_Thering_Photography15       Katie_Thering_Photography12Katie_Thering_Photography17Katie_Thering_Photography04Katie_Thering_Photography16Katie_Thering_Photography06Katie_Thering_Photography11Katie_Thering_Photography05Katie_Thering_Photography20Katie_Thering_Photography14Katie_Thering_Photography08 Katie_Thering_Photography10   Katie_Thering_Photography07
